Event Details

Ever wanted to quit your job and travel the world? Do people tend to give you the fisheye whenever you talk about this crazy scheme? Never fear, we have the event for you!

Meet, Plan, Go! is a chance to crank up your career break inspiration. Hear from a panel who will answer your questions and dispense sage advice: travelers who have taken sabbaticals, financial gurus who can help you save money for your trip, and travel planning experts to show you how it's done. In addition, there will be lots of informal mingling with local travelers of every type -- 20somethings, older-than-20somethings, couples, singles, backpackers, road warriors, travelers with kids, photographers, videographers -- to share their experiences, tips, and tricks.

The event will be held at REI Atlanta, and here's the schedule:

  • 6:30-7:15pm networking
  • 7:15-8:15 program – panel of speakers and Q&A afterward
  • 8:15-9pm meet the 'experts' - talk with the career break experts/sabbatical-goers

HOSTS:

Barbara Pagano and Elizabeth Pagano are the mother-daughter team at yourSABBATICAL. Twitter: @yourSABBATICAL. They took a 6-month career break in 2001, just after 9/11, and sailed 2,000 miles together on a 43-foot sloop. Now they help companies and individuals with sabbaticals that are not only a "step out" from work but also a "step up" in career development.

PANELISTS:

GARRETT SCHEMMEL of Hostel Dog – Travel Inspired Apparel. Twitter: @HostelDog. Garrett is an experienced career-breaker and has combined his passion for travel and his passion for work into his apparel business.

HEATHER WILSON of Conscious Execs is moving into an RV for a year to promote her new book, The Freedom Path: Redefining Success from the Inside Out, which will be released by Hay House in 2011. Twitter: @ConsciousExecs

MARC REICH is a store manager for REI and has worked for the coop for 18 years. In 2007, Marc took a four-week company paid sabbatical to travel the United States with his wife and two daughters to introduce them to the National Parks.
